Getting to Know our Homeschool Guide
-
I was born in Austin Texas, but I moved to Nashville when I was only 3 months old. After I graduated high school at MLK, I moved to Richmond, Virginia to pursue a B.S. in Psychology. Now, I am glad to be back home. I was named after the botanist Asa Gray.

I’ve been part of A New Leaf since the very beginning, 20 years ago, as one of its first students. As I grew, helping my mother became second nature, and I had the rare gift of watching the school blossom alongside me. Over time, the line between student and teacher began to blur. Learning and guiding became intertwined until stepping into a teaching role felt like the most natural next chapter in my journey.

I am one of the Homeschool Enrichment Guides at the Overall Creek Arboretum Forest Campus. This is my second year in the position, and I am excited to hone the program alongside my new team members.
-
It is hard not to describe my mother, Elle Harvey, as one of my heroes and mentors. She continues to be a shining inspiration in my life. I have a deep gratitude towards my cello teacher of 10 years.
-
I will never stop learning and changing in my life. So far, I have learned to listen and to use my voice, and I have learned that kindness is the best marker of maturity.
-
I like to play games, read, write, play sports, and eat!
-
I can read and sing the language of music. I have started my learning of psychology. I am learning to speak French again.
-
I like to eat everything! Every cuisine is a treat. On my lazy days, I go down to the country store on the corner and get the fried chicken.
-
My favorite color to see is green in many different shades. Green can be bright and vivacious, or mysterious, or even serious. My favorite color to wear is black because it goes with everything!
-
I would like to travel the world, and add to my bank of experiences!

The children continue to amaze me with their insight, thoughtfulness, humor, and seemingly boundless joy.
