Bug Week – Big Fun With Tiny Creatures
Worms and Beetles and Butterflies — Oh my!
Our campers spend the week discovering friendly garden insects through hands-on play, buggy storybooks and digging in the dirt. Children make their favorite crawly creatures out of natural and up-cycled materials, watch caterpillars and ladybugs in observation jars, and enjoy catch-and-release moments with roly-polies and worms. We’ll even plant pollinator friendly seeds and seedlings to observe and learn about how beneficial insects help our garden thrive. A curiosity-led week perfect for tiny naturalists!
Week 2: June 8-12
Forest Theater – Storytelling, Nature Songs & Pretend Play
Lights, puppets, action!
Campers burst into imaginative play with creative costumes, puppets, instruments, and dancing . Between puppet crafts and time in the garden, children learn nature songs, put on forest themed puppet shows, and share their talents on our cozy outdoor stage. When they are not dancing, singing or playing outside, they even get to learn how to be a supportive audience member. This week is all about imitation, rhythm, imaginative play, and joyful expression — with zero pressure and lots of encouragement!
Week 3: June 15-19
Learning to Fly
Up, up, and away!
Campers experience the thrill of their very own wings, crafted from up-cycled materials and ready for their first test flight! They learn about birds flapping, soaring, swooping and diving, then they give it a try! Build pretend nests and launch into imaginative play! Children observe the magic of found feathers and listen to the birdsong in our forest. The fascination continues as they embody flying insects, dinosaurs, and machines, learning basic principles of engineering and moving their bodies in dynamic dances with the wind. This gravity defying week is always a hit with our young aviators!
Week 4: June 22-26
Rainbow Week – Color Everywhere!
Bright, bold, messy FUN.
Campers splash through every color of the rainbow, make nature prints, stamp shapes in every hue, and learn color mixing principles through curious exploration. Children go on color-hunt adventures around the forest and garden and create mini tie-dye experiments with natural food coloring. Let us take on the mess so you can take home the magic of full spectrum color creativity!
Week 5: June 29-July 3
Zen Garden & Herbal Apothecary Week
Spa days meet splash time!
Campers explore spa themed sensory play with flower petal foot soaks, singing bowls, meditative sand raking, and animal themed yoga. From stacking stones in the forest and soft water brushes for soothing face massage, we balance outdoor adventures with peaceful play and craft time. Children experience the powers of lavender, sage, rosemary, and basil along with other healing plants from the garden. They even set up a miniature spa, complete with tiny bubble baths and tooth brush facials, for our favorite water ready toys. Don’t be surprised if you arrive for pick up and we’ve still got cucumber slices on our eyes… This week is all about celebrating self-care!
Week 6: July 6-10
Cooking From the Garden – Mud Kitchen Masterpieces
Stir it, smash it, plate it — yes chefs!
Campers get busy mixing, pouring, and pretending in the mud kitchen. With an herb garden, sand garden, and forest garden to explore, there is no end to the creative recipes our culinary experts can dish up! They continue the sensory experience by exploring real garden ingredients. After decorating their own chef hats and aprons, they’ll harvest herbs, wash veggies, and possibly even taste some of their garden bounty with careful supervision.
Week 7: July 13-17
Forest Fairytales & Animal Folklore
Magic in the Woods
Campers build fairy houses from stones, grass, sticks and treasures from the garden, and place their creations in the most magical nooks of the forest. As they search for imaginary creatures and hidden worlds among roots and branches, children discover the magic of our natural world. They follow short story trails through the forest and hear folk tales that share forest lessons and animal wisdom. The trees of the forest come to life with wizardly faces and spirits on display to inspire wonder. Before the week’s end, our campers craft their own tiny characters to further explore imaginative storytelling through play and outdoor adventure!
Week 8: July 20-24
Animals Around the World
Roar! Hop! Waddle!
Campers climb like mountain goats, wiggle like fish, stomp like elephants, and practice their best bird calls. They explore “nature’s neighborhoods”through sensory habitat experiences like arctic ice bins, jungle leaf piles, desert sandboxes and splashy water tanks. The fascination continues as children make animal masks, play wildlife guessing games, and learn fun facts about their favorite animals. Through imagination, imitation, and education, their love and respect for the wonderful animals of our world grows to a passion. This week, every day is a new continent and a new creature to discover!
