Summer at the Farm: 8 Weeks of Wonder, Discovery, and Play!

At our farm location, summer is all about choice, discovery, and joyful connection with the natural world. Campers spend their days immersed in the rhythms of farm life and the magic of the outdoors—caring for animals, exploring ecosystems, creating within studios designed for arts and theater, playing games, and building friendships that last.

Each week has a special theme focus and different games are emphasized. Read below for details!

Week 1: June 1-5

Forest Theater & Storycraft Studio

Create the Story. Build the World. Take the Stage!
Campers kick off the summer by becoming playwrights, costume designers, set builders, and performers. Together, they craft an original nature-themed story, design costumes from natural and up-cycled materials, build their stage backdrop, and learn a group song to bring their performance to life. The week ends with a joyful outdoor performance on our forest stage filmed for friends and family.

Week 2: June 6-10

Weaving, Tie-Dye & Nature Printmaking

Color, Pattern, Texture — Makers Gotta Make!
Young artists explore fabric and fiber arts using both traditional and nature-inspired techniques. Campers will craft art installations on a grand scale, experiment with indigo dye, weave landscapes on rustic handmade looms, carve and print with potato stamps, and braid friendship bracelets to trade and take home. This is a full week of color, creativity, and wearable art!

Week 3: June 15-19

Forest Survival Skills & Natural Building

The Skills Every Young Adventurer Should Know

Campers grow confidence and resilience by learning hands-on outdoor skills. Activities include fort and shelter building, fire safety fundamentals, forest foraging basics, knot tying, navigation, and water filtration experiments. This week empowers children to explore the outdoors with curiosity, courage, and respect.

Week 4: June 22-26

Garden Apothecary & Spa Science

Herbal Creations & Grounding with Goats
Campers learn how the earth’s resources can help us care for ourselves and each other. After grounding with the goats on a hike up to Tippy Top, we’ll feel the benefits of forest bathing in the trees. Then it’s back to the garden to harvest powerful herbs and head to the workshop to craft fizzy bath balls, all-natural bug spray, sugar scrubs, and flower-petal foot soaks for our camper-led spa. In the Zen Zone of our Exploratorium, children practice braiding, try out reflexology tools, and experience calming scents and sounds. In the shade, we’ll learn yoga, release our energy with water play, or rest and reflect. It’s a hands-on, sensory-rich week focused on outdoor adventure, the healing power of plants, and the art and science of self-care!

Week 5: June 29-July 3

Animals Are Awesome — Nature’s Athletes

Stronger, Faster, Cuter - The Unique Superpowers of Our Animal Teachers

A high-energy week combining movement, teamwork, and animal appreciation. Campers set up obstacle courses, relays, and collaborative team challenges while learning about the incredible physical abilities of animals from all over the world. We catch and release crawdads in the creek, track the wild creatures who leave trails through the forest, and spend time daily with our goats and chickens, deepening campers’ connection with the animals who call our farm home.

Week 6: July 6-10

Cooking From the Garden

A Farm-to-Table Adventure

This delicious week invites campers into the joys of farm-fresh cooking. Children gather eggs, harvest ingredients from our gardens and practice kid-friendly culinary skills as they cook pancakes, baked apples, and handmade pizzas, brew mint and elderberry tea, and concoct fresh salsa with abundant tomatoes. Campers learn about seasonal produce, kitchen safety, and simple nutrition. The week wraps up with our “Farmer’s Market” where campers share their bountiful harvest.

Week 7: July 13-17

Songbirds & Nature’s Symphony

Music, Movement, Birdwatching & A Camp Talent Showcase.
Campers tune into the sounds of summer — both human and feathered. Through birdwatching, field guides, and hands-on crafts, campers learn to identify local songbirds and mimic their calls. They also learn folk songs inspired by birds and nature, preparing for a fun end-of-week talent show. It’s a joyful blend of music, nature study, and creative expression.

Week 8: Bug Week — The Tiny World of Insects & Pollinators

Curiosity, Close-Up Science & Backyard Entomology.
A camper favorite! This week explores butterflies, bees, fireflies, beetles, creek critters, and more. Children build bee hotels, conduct a firefly “glow” science experiment, and keep personal bug journals to record all their catch-and-release discoveries. With daily visits to the farm, forest, and creek, campers become entomologists uncovering the magic of the insect world.
