Dallas Hudgins

Getting to Know our Magnolia Preschool Teacher

  • I was born here in TN and have resided in Hickman County all my life.

My name was inspired by the Alan Jackson song titled ‘Dallas’!

  • When I started in 2017, I wasn’t sure if this field would be the right fit for me, but it quickly revealed to be the right path. The relationships I’ve built with children and families have brought me so much joy and fulfillment. I’m excited to continue this journey and look forward to building meaningful connections with my new students.

  • At A New Leaf I co-teach the Magnolias, the preschoolers. My main focus is developing relationships, assessing their interests and behaviors, and milestones as we embark together on the learning journey.

  • My heroes are most certainly my family but my biggest supporter has always been my husband. He is the one who always encourages me to pursue my dreams and supports me every step.

My mentor is my last supervisor Selena Harris. She has always been an inspiration to me and an amazing role model. She introduced me to Reggio Emilia and has always had a love for nature.

  • When I began teaching , I had envisioned that my career path would lead to becoming a director.

When I found myself in a director seat, I reflected on my goals and what nurtures me. I realized I missed teaching and developing relationships with students. I began seeking opportunities to learn in different settings and was attracted to the idea of a nature school because it aligns with my beliefs. I am excited to be teaching again and to pursue this new adventure outdoors!

  • I have too many hobbies - but my favorites are scrapbooking, painting, gaming, gardening, reading, & nature photography.

  • My artistic language is expressing my creativity through art and nature photography.

  • My favorite restaurant is Olive Garden. I look forward to discovering what Nashville has to offer.

  • Every color is special and unique, but green is the color that goes with everything.

  • I have been wanting to try ziplining for the longest time!

  • The children of course, but also the beliefs and practices that makes our school so unique and fun for the development of a joyful childhood.
